Events...La Traviata... La Traviata is one of Verdi's most stunning operas, telling the tale of a high class courtesan who falls in love for the very first time. After finally finding happiness by turning her back on the luxury of her frivolous life, she is devastated when her lover's father arrives and begs that she leave him for the sake of his sister's honour. She concedes and lies to her lover to force him to leave her but in his pain he cruelly humiliates her before they part. Knowing that she is suffering with an illness which will shortly end her life, she bravely faces ending her days alone. As her final days draw near she receives word that her lover is to return and beg her forgiveness but their reunion is to be bitter-sweet! The performances will be given at the magical Minack theatre, a stunning amphitheatre carved into the cliffs near Penzance. It seats 800 people and offers a stunning backdrop of the sea and Cornish coastline and is even occasionally graced by the appearance of the local dolphin school! So...Sandy white beaches, stunning scenery, dolphins, a magical amphitheatre and the most romantic opera of all time....how could you ever resist?!
